We The People. For The People. By The People. – Nkechi

What exactly is a DAO you ask?

DAOs are here to stay and DAOs are our future. In fact they have always been with us existing in one shape or another even before technologies like Web 3 and Web 2 tools like Discord made them possible. The most simple and straightforward definition is what they truly are meant to be DAOs are most simply put, Decentralized Autonomous Organizations, hence the moniker DAO. In my experience DAOs are a group of like minded mission driven, mission oriented humans organizing and unifying themselves in ways that facilitate change, enact self supporting governance, get things done and in some way shape or form attempt to raise the bar on a common good. What this common good is, is for the people of the DAO to decide. How do they decide? They propose, they discuss,  they vote on. Well functioning good DAOs are, dare I say it, an expression of what democracy can and will become. DAOs are a good expression of

We the people. By the people. For the people.”

For a good in depth exploration as to why DAOs are good for Africa

More than ever these days the driving force behind DAOs is community, community organizing. Same old same old right? Our must recent collective life experience our collective lockdowns underscored the necessity, beauty and utility of community.  My personal definition of community is a group of people who unify themselves around something, some things they share in common.  The collective good for the community, not just the individual. In fact hyper focus or hyper dominance on or of the individual over the group waters down the well community.  Experience is believing. There are as many DAOs and ways of organizing DAOs as there are people desiring to participate, or start them whether they continue to exist for the Web3 blockchain technologies we have today or lead us through later upgrades of technology like Web 7 or Web 8 and the like. Yes I dream big. Yes I dream often. I envision a better present as well as a better future.

Begin with one, then expand to many.

Mix and match that which feeds your true self then let this be magnified to serve as many DAOs as your heart, life, passions and compassion can accommodate.

The most effective parts of DAOs is you get to enter and participate at your own speed. You get to dream big with a group of others thinking and dreaming to build a collective vision. It is amazing to be a part. My experience as a long time community builder, community activator, community creator and community participator, organizing humans in various ways is a soft skill I have been gifted with across various life lanes. I’m somewhat of a hospitality freak. I love enabling people to feel seen, heard and uber welcomed.  I somehow do this in my sleep. However it really isn’t until I have been welcomed into DAOs where i was able to experience being welcomed irrespective of any of my previous acumens or potential contributions. To simply be welcomed for being and not necessarily doing.  Not necessarily having. Though we deeply appreciate anything we, you or I have to offer and add and share as long as it does not diminish you.  DAOs can really be an opportunity to be valued for the least expressed, least experienced part of ourselves. I am extremely humbled that through this present season of life I have been blessed by so many opportunities to participate. In one way or another. everytime I cross the threshold of one they shout welcome we are so glad you are here.  We are, you are, I am welcomed at our own pace, covered by a state of grace, so much so that I am delighted by the process of discovering DAOs and choosing DAOs and learning how to DAO better and better. Of entering of participating. DAOs don’t make sense until they do. Like a dance practiced and then learned just at the right time. The bar of entry is low, thank goodness. Come as you are.  You can be as present or as distant as you need to be.  There are no expectations until you choose to participate in that part of the process. DAOs can be as spiritual or as practical as you need them to be for you.  As an extravagant creative I know how important it is to be in environments that foster,  encourage and honor creativity and don’t seek to quench it. Lord knows I’ve had my experience with that. Most importantly I hope you know that I am so happy you are here. You are reading. You are participating. We are better for it and want to hear you. And meet you soon as the occasions permit.

As a former electrical engineer, turned extravagant artist I had a mild interest in crypto in 2016, more as a new way to experience stocks perspective than whole heartedly participating in blockchain. As an event curator, contemporary artist, and performance-artivist who enjoys performing tive whenever I am able,  I was hopeful to see the ways fine art could be democratized through NFTs and thus made more accessible to the everyday person.  My heart ached in the early days of NFTs as they were being bought and resold just for profits sake. Art is meant to be enjoyed by both the creator, purchaser and the viewer. In the transactional frenzy state there seemed to be no enjoyment,  just anxiety and weird posturing.  What tempered all of this was discovering that from the technologies of blockchain DAOs were enabled to be facilitated and birthed in their present form. I love that there always can be a higher good hatched from not so great circumstances. DAOs are that higher good. To me they are the best and most fruitful and timeless expression of the blockchain. We DAOers are forever organzed and interconnected. Can’t wait to see whatever they will become by the time we reach Web 7 or Web 8. (wink, wink) Wait, are we there yet?

PHI.network is a Decentralized Autonomous Economy.  Next level, right? Right. Yes DAEs are the next generation. Yes, we, you and me are part of the next generation. Let’s regenerate,  recreate our economy together. One PHI at a time 💃🏾
